As you may have noticed the site got a nice visual refresh tonight.  This is only part of what is coming.  I have been working with a friend and designer, Doug Chatham, to design new fliers and the new graphics for the site and newsletter.

Commissioner Larry Johnson, in response to the growing concern that the corridors around DeKalb were inundated with litter, recommended that a special work group be developed — the Litter Patrol. With funding appropriated in the 2007 budget the Litter Patrol came into being, April 6, 2007.

The Litter Patrol is designed to be a control measure in monitoring and maintaining the county’s rights-of-way, corridors, state roads and interchanges. Community Service Workers, under the supervision of a county employee provide litter pick up to areas in need. There are four (4) crews – north, east, south and west DeKalb are serviced as needed.

Fire on Tupelo
Today there was a house fire on Tupelo but thankfully everyone is okay.  A tree fell on the power lines apparently starting a fire at the electric box.  It is my understanding that some neighbors called it in and made sure the resident made it out okay.

Today we covered (more or less) the following:
Flamingo Fridays! – Get to know your neighbors at a random (volunteered) location every (hopefully) Friday. Enjoy a beer and enjoy the nice weather basking in the glory of the mighty flamingo! Okay so we may not find a flamingo but hopefully we can get this going.

The Big News is…
Both Don and Mark will be moving so they will not be able lead the Neighborhood Watch any longer. Don will be available for neighborhood cleanups and such …
