Hello everyone, we will be gathering again on September 3rd @ 10:00am for a long overdue meeting. Up for discussion will be car break-ins and other recent unsavory activity. This is a great opportunity for those of you who may have new neighbors to invite them along. We will be joined by Dekalb County Police officers.
I am currently looking for a location for this meeting. My house will be the fallback but if anyone else has an indoor alternative (we can meet out back at my place) please contact me …

Tonight the power was cut on harvest lane due to a transformer failure. This is the one immediately in front of the house that burned down. To my knowledge this is the second time this has happened in the past couple years. In light of that the power co. Will be upgrading it to a larger one. They should have it installed sometime tonight. Thanks to whomever called it in this time!

This is a great article on the AJC sent in by one of our residents,  Don B.
Welcome to the safety patrol arms race in Atlanta, where citizens are increasingly hiring their own armed guardians to protect their neighborhoods against criminals getting run out of other protected areas. With Atlanta’s police force chronically undermanned and fear of crime growing, private patrols manned by off-duty cops, a long-standing tradition in many neighborhoods, are becoming more attractive.
This is something we should consider as a community.  Time-permitting we can …

I got a call this afternoon with a caller ID of Code Red.  I looked it up and this is a legitimate emergency notification service.  In this instance I was able to call back and have the original message played back.  The message was from Dekalb County about FEMA.
I just wanted to pass this along as apparently it is legitimate and may be a means by which the county notifies residents about missing persons and other county-related issues.
More information is here: http://www.coderedweb.net/ and also on the county website: http://www.co.dekalb.ga.us/

The Walk Is FREE and Open to All
Unintentional injuries, suicide, and homicide rank in the top eight leading causes of premature death in DeKalb County — according to the Status of Health Report, 2005.

Hey everyone, I seem to have a guest in our yard.  He seems to be sweet but hasn’t let me close enough to check for tags, he does have a collar though.  I snapped a few pics… he is still out back with Tucker.  If you know whose dog this is please contact me or stop by (1520 Harvest).

I wanted to say thanks to everyone who attended our cookout this past weekend.  We definitely had a great time.  Special thanks to those who contributed donations for food, beverages, and utensils!
Thankfully there hasn’t been too much in the way of incidents in the neighborhood of late.  Please do see this post in the discussion board about a late night incident on St. Patrick St.
We had a nice turnout and the weather couldn’t have been better.  We also had a special visit from our county commissioner, Larry Johnson, and Margaret …
