Olympic Fundraiser: A Party with a Point!

8 September 2008 84 views No Comment

Our dear friend Lee has been studying archery seriously for years—she is good enough to try out for the London 2012 Olympics!!  All that she is missing is the right Olympic-quality equipment to allow her to compete.  As a working single mom of a wonderful middle schooler, the funds for a new bow are a little out of reach.  Some of her friends are helping to host a fundraiser—A Party with a Point—to make her dreams a reality!

The party is from 7:00 PM to 11:55 PM on Saturday, September 13th at 2540 East Tupelo Street, Doug & Christy Smith’s house.  There is a $10 suggested donation plus a silent auction (all funds will go towards her bow)!  Kids are welcome to join the hunt to find a golden arrow!  Light snacks will be on hand, as well as a keg of Sweetwater beer for those of age.

Lee is a well-respected member of the Southeast dance community as well—many of her friends are donating the evening’s entertainment!  There will be a DJ, belly dancing, archery demonstrations, and circus and fire performances.  Performances will start at 7:30.

With her bow and long blonde hair, Lee reminds us of Artemis—the Greek goddess famous for her accuracy in archery—you’ll see performers and guests in Greek costumes, in celebration of her dream!  This is a fun occasion to meet and hang out with your neighbors!
